Club Service Projects and Events

From time to time, the members of the Rotary Club of Forster on Wallis participate in, or contribute to a range of not-for-profit events or projects in the local community. Often these are on an ad hoc or one-off basis to contribute to a special cause or assist another not-for-profit organisation.

Annual Events

The Club also runs two annual events which raise funds in support of one or more local charitable organisations, which may vary from year to year.

The Charity Golf is held in September or October of each year and the money raised goes to a nominated not-for-profit group who usually help with the promotion and running of the event.

The Duck Race and Corporate Duck Race are both held over the Easter weekend in Forster. Once again, any monies raised go to a different local not-for-profit group each year.

Major Projects

In 2008, the Club began a long term community project in conjunction with Great lakes Council to create a pathway of custom made decorative paving bricks.

The first pavers will be laid in the first half of 2009. This project enables other not-for-profit groups to particpate and benefit from any money raised.

Community Projects

The Club is a regular contributor to the One Mile Beach Dune Care group, where the products of our previous efforts are a visible reminder of some fun times clearing weeds and planting new natives.

For several years the Club has been responsible for the Janie's Corner area on Clean Up Australia Day. It is with some satisfaction that we have found the task becoming easier each year.
